September is Hunger Action Month

September is Hunger Action Month, Feeding America network’s nationwide awareness driver, designed to mobilize the public to take action on the issue of hunger. Inter-Faith Food Shuttle, a Feeding America network agency, is planning to join the annual month-long campaign to help bring attention to the reality of food insecurity in central North Carolina, and promote ways for individuals in the region to get involved in the movement to help end hunger. The 2020 campaign theme is, “We can end hunger one helping at a time.” Hunger Action Day, September 10th, is a day where efforts across the country are focused for greater impact.

During Hunger Action Month, as the Food Shuttle continues to respond to the economic and health impacts of COVID-19, all members of the community are encouraged to take action. Every donation, volunteer shift and social media post bring the efforts of Inter-Faith Food Shuttle that much closer to ending hunger. Every action counts now more than ever. The Food Shuttle will hold a virtual forum with President & CEO Ron Pringle on Hunger Action Day, September 10, from 12 to 1 p.m., to discuss ongoing efforts to address hunger in the seven-county service area and provide an update on the organization’s COVID-19 emergency response. Hunger exists in every county in the U.S. In the Food Shuttle’s seven-county service area alone, 222,610 people struggle with hunger, including 67,740 children. Inter-Faith Food Shuttle believes that hunger IS solvable and is leading the fight to end it by pioneering innovative, transformative solutions to create a healthy and hunger-free North Carolina..
