There is no one-size-fits-all approach to ending hunger. That’s why Inter-Faith Food Shuttle creates unique solutions to fit the unique needs of families, children, and seniors facing hunger throughout central North Carolina. Our multi-dimensional programming serves immediate needs while also providing long-term solutions that address the root causes of hunger and poverty. Together with our community of supporters, the Food Shuttle is strengthening families by teaching new ways to grow and cook healthy foods, educating about nutrition, and providing invaluable assistance to move toward long-term self-sufficiency.
This spring, a new opportunity to support efforts to create stronger families and healthier communities is available through our Spring Match Challenge. Thanks to generous funding from the Mead Family Foundation, all gifts made April 1 through May 31 will be matched, dollar for dollar, up to $40,000.
That means double the impact of contributions made to help families like Courtney’s. After Courtney lost her job as a supervisor at a group home, she could no longer afford the fresh fruits her four-year-old son, Carter, loves. Four months later, she found a new position, but the pay wasn’t as good. She learned about a local food pantry that now helps fill in the gaps. “I’m glad they give greens,” she says. “We can sure use this, especially right now.” As Courtney put it, “I thought [pantries] were for people who were less fortunate, but anybody could be less fortunate in a day or in a second.”
Save the date and don’t miss the chance to maximize your gift to feed, teach, grow, and cultivate a hunger free community. Visit www.FoodShuttle.org/Match between April 1 and May 31 and be a part of the Food Shuttle’s Spring Match Challenge.
