Inter-Faith Food Shuttle received a surprise holiday gift in the form of a $60,000 grant from Wells Fargo. The grant, which will be used for increased general operating expenses due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was made as part of an estimated $7.1 million dollars in grant funding to Feeding America food banks this holiday season.
As a Feeding America Visionary Partner, Wells Fargo has teamed up with the Feeding America network of food banks in the ongoing effort to end hunger for more than a decade. Their support includes national cause marketing campaigns, local support of food banks, and volunteerism. Wells Fargo has used its scale and resources to help provide meals for more families during the holiday season and beyond.
On a local level, Wells Fargo has teamed up with Inter-Faith Food Shuttle to help ensure that families, children, and seniors in central North Carolina get the food they need to be healthy and thrive. Most recently, Wells Fargo supported five drive-up food distributions in September 2020, helping the Food Shuttle to put fresh produce, frozen meals, and non-perishable groceries into the hands of families affected by the pandemic. As an extension of their partnership with Well Fargo on a local level, Michael L. Golden, Triangle Regional President at Wells Fargo, serves on the Food Shuttle Board of Directors.
“We remain grateful for the continued support of Wells Fargo throughout this year. Receiving this surprise donation comes at just the right time, and will mean neighbors struggling with hunger have one less thing to worry about this holiday season. It is the best of communities helping communities,” said L. Ron Pringle, President and CEO of Inter-Faith Food Shuttle.
