Food Shuttle Launches Horizon Catering

The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is launching its new catering company, Horizon Catering, on Thursday, October 4th at 5 PM with a Happy Hour tasting. Horizon will use the freshest ingredients, often sourced from the Food Shuttle Farm, with all proceeds directly supporting Food Shuttle hunger relief programs. Horizon Catering has breakfast, lunch, dinner, and hors d'oeuvre options for all of your catering needs.

Horizon Catering orders will be produced by the Food Shuttle culinary team and culinary apprentices enrolled in the new Culinary Apprenticeship Program, which provides job and life skills training for those looking for a fresh start. The program is ideal for people looking to get back into the workforce or to strengthen their skills in the food service industry. It is a 10-12 week paid program for 2-3 apprentices to learn in-depth culinary skills, customer service, and life skills.

“The goal is to use food preparation and job training as pathway out of hunger. The root cause of food insecurity lies in poverty so if we can give someone the skill set to make a living wage, we can really make a difference,” explains Janna Major, Food Shuttle’s Catering Manager. “Our apprentices will graduate with real world job experience, an entry level ServSafe certification, a sense of confidence in the kitchen, and assistance with job placement.”

To join us for our happy hour on Thursday, please email Abbey@foodshuttle.org to RSVP.
