Food Lion managers from across Durham and their community relations team from Salisbury, NC joined forces on Tuesday, November 13th to transform Brogden Middle School’s School Pantry, which is supported by the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and PORCH-Durham.
The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is excited to have two new Food Corps AmeriCorps members, Nathalie Kauz and Annie Kersting, and a new Share Our Strength AmeriCorps member, Caity Ashley, join the Food Shuttle staff for one year. Hear from our new AmeriCorps to learn what brought them to the Food Shuttle!
The Food Shuttle is grateful for their supporters during Hunger Action Month. Food drive partners donated and sorted over 12,976 pounds of food to support BackPack Buddies, Hurricane Florence relief, School Pantries, Grocery Bags for Seniors, and Mobile Markets. The Food Shuttle distributed over 345,000 meals during Hunger Action Month with the support of our volunteer partners. Volunteers gave almost 2,000 hours of their time and talents.
The Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is launching its new catering company, Horizon Catering, on Thursday, October 4th at 5 PM with a Happy Hour tasting. Horizon Catering uses fresh ingredients purchased from local farmers, often sourced from the Food Shuttle Farm. The Food Shuttle’s Culinary Apprenticeship Program will assist with production of catering orders. Join us for happy hour on Thursday, please email Abbey@foodshuttle.org to RSVP or learn more about Horizon Catering at HorizonCatering.org.
DURHAM - Hundreds more children will have healthy food to eat with the opening of the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle’s Child Food Hub in Durham. The 7,000-square-foot warehouse on South Miami Boulevard near Research Triangle Park will serve as the hub for child-hunger programs, including BackPack Buddies and PORCH-Durham, as well as food pantries at schools in seven Triangle-area counties.
While hoping for the best possible outcome, the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle is preparing for the worst of Hurricane Florence.
