Volunteer Opportunities

You can help us feed a child, family or senior. You can help fill a life.

Our volunteers fuel the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle

Please join us. There are many ways to get involved with Inter-Faith Food Shuttle:

  • BACKPACK BUDDIES—Volunteers are a vital part of this program, helping to sort BackPack Buddies food drives and fill or deliver the over 1000 backpacks we send out weekly.
  • COMMUNITY GARDENS—Volunteers organize and facilitate all activities in the garden, and manage gardeners.
  • COOKING MATTERS/SINGLE SERVING—Volunteers prep for, assist at and, if qualified, teach classes to families and kids on how to shop, cook and eat healthfully on a low budget.
  • FARMs—In an effort to be able to offer our recipient agencies fresh, local, organic produce, we plant extensive gardens where volunteers sow, plant, weed, mulch and harvest.
  • FARMER FOOD SHARE—Using their own vehicles, volunteers, on a regular basis, pick up and deliver, to recipient agencies, food donated at area farmers markets.
  • FIELD GLEANING—Volunteers work in groups at area farms to gather excess crops which are then delivered to low-income families. Short notice availability is essential.
  • FOOD RECOVERY—Driver and Assistant ? Volunteer teams, in our vehicles, cover established routes recovering food from donor sites and delivering it to recipient agencies.
  • WAREHOUSE—Volunteers help in general warehouse maintenance ?sweeping, mopping, sorting food and loading and unloading trucks
  • GROCERY BAGS—Volunteer groups of 10 to 15 people [corporations, clubs, faith-based groups] make up and deliver grocery bags to low-income seniors or families.
  • PLANT-A-ROW—Volunteers grow produce in their home or community gardens to be donated for hunger relief. Volunteers are also needed to staff booths at promotional events to collect PAR donations.
  • ONE-TIME EVENTS—Volunteers are entered into a standing list and are contacted to assist at special events such as volunteer fairs, fund-raisers, food drives or special food distributions.
