Operation Frontline
The Food Shuttle’s newest initiative is focused on offering nutrition and cooking classes which emphasize making healthy, affordable meals. Our goal is to create a long-term solution to hunger by giving people the confidence and ability to be more self-sufficient, improve their eating habits and food budgeting skills. Operation Frontline, a partnership of the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and Share Our Strength (SOS), is a an exciting program that mobilizes local culinary and nutrition professionals to teach cooking and nutrition classes to low-income teens, children & adults.

Ending hunger by teaching healthy eating.
- Operation Frontline Classes are held for 4-6 week sessions and are held at local agencies and community centers.
- The classes provide practical hands-on experience with food and nutrition--instructing participants how to form healthy eating habits, cooking skills and shopping on a budget.
- Each class focuses on a theme such as fruits & vegetables, cutting fat, or healthy snacking.
- Grocery bags with recipe ingredients are given to participants each week to enable them to make the recipes at home.
- Chefs add their own creative touches with low-cost, nutritious recipes they help participants to create in class.
- Participants learn how to grow food through container gardening techniques.
