Operation Frontline is focused on offering nutrition and cooking classes which emphasize making healthy affordable meals. Our goal is to create a long-term solution to hunger by giving people the confidence and ability to be more self-sufficient, improve their eating habits and food budgeting skills. Operation Frontline, a partnership of the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle and Share Our Strength (SOS), is an exciting program that mobilizes local culinary and nutrition professionals to teach cooking and nutrition classes to low-income teens, children & adults. For more information contact Katherine Andrew at 250-0043. You can also check out our blog Operation Frontline.

Improving eating habits on a budget by learning how to cook
  • Operation Frontline Classes are held for 4-6 week sessions and are held at local agencies and community centers
  • The classes provide practical hands-on experience with food and nutrition--instructing participants how to form healthy eating habits, cooking skills and shopping on a budget
  • Each class focuses on a theme such as fruits & vegetables, cutting fat, or healthy snacking
  • Grocery bags with ingredients are given to participants to enable them to make the recipes at home
  • Chefs add their own creative touches with low-cost, nutritious recipes they create and demonstrate with participants’ help
