The Vision of Café on the Hill
A vacant white bungalow is located on the grounds of the Dorothea Dix campus. Although tattered, the Inter-Faith Food Shuttle sees huge potential. With care and an investment from the community, this little house can be transformed. It can be filled with industrious hands producing nourishing meals. It can become a place of respite for busy office workers to take a moment over lunch and gaze out over the city where they live. It can be transformed into the Café on the Hill.
Transformation of the Café
Transformation is the key to the Culinary Job Training Program. With proper care and investment the CJTP students can be productive self-sufficient members of the community. Café on the Hill will be an integral part in that transformation process for the most needy and difficult-to-place clients. These are the people who will benefit from the long-term apprenticeship opportunities and the sheltered environment that Café will provide.
